The Available Light: Student Edition is a complete 36-week homeschool photography elective for students who understand basic camera operation and are ready to make photographs with greater purpose. The work begins with attention: recognizing what draws the eye, making deliberate choices in the field, and learning to complete the photograph before leaving the subject. Across five structured sections, students strengthen their technique, explore their developing photographic style, organize their work, and build a finished portfolio of 12–18 images. Every exercise leaves evidence. Students complete field assignments, written reflections, image selections, portfolio studies, and a final presentation suitable for applications, exhibitions, portfolio reviews, or further study.
